Hoopla

With hoopla digital you can borrow movies, music, e-audiobooks, e-books, comics and TV shows to enjoy on your computer, tablet, or phone – and even your TV!

Titles can be streamed immediately, or downloaded to phones or tablets for offline enjoyment later. There are hundreds of thousands of titles to choose from, with more being added daily.

User guide

 

To access hoopla:

  1. Click Get Started Today to create your hoopla account using your email address and a password.
  2. Select Cessnock Libraries and enter your library membership number and PIN.
  3. Find a title you like and click borrow. Use Advanced Search to look for titles in languages other than English, a specific subject or genre, ISBN, a specific format, etc. 
  4. You get 20 Instant Borrows each month. These Instant Borrows will reset every month and you can borrow more than one title at a time.
  5. eBooks and eAudiobooks are available for 21 days after you borrow. They can be streamed from your PC or downloaded to your mobile device within the hoopla app.
  6. Videos are available to stream for 72 hours after you borrow. The Great Courses will redirect you to an external website regardless of device. Other videos will stream within the app.
  7. Music titles are available for 7 days after you borrow. They can be streamed from your PC or downloaded to your mobile device within the hoopla app.
  8. eComics are available for 21 days after you borrow. They can be streamed from your PC or downloaded to your mobile device within the hoopla app.

 

PC users can access hoopla Patron Support in the footer of the website while logged into their account. Mobile device users, log into your account, tap the Settings cog wheel in the top right corner. The tap the question mark.

 

Accessibility features:

Adjustable font size: When you have an eBook open, press the Aa button on the top-right. This will open a menu which includes a Text Size option. Press the plus (+) to make the font larger, or the minus (-) to make it smaller.

Adjustable line spacing: When you have an eBook open, press the Aa button on the top-right. This will open a menu which includes a Line Spacing option. Select the required spacing from the list offered.

Dyslexic-friendly font: When you have an eBook, open, press the Aa button on the top-right. This will open a menu which includes a Font option. Select the current font for a list of options, and select Dyslexic to switch to the dyslexic-friendly font.

Adjustable audio speed: When you have an eAudiobook open, you will see a 1.00x Speed option at the bottom-right. Selecting this will offer options between 0.5 and 4.0 speed, to suit your needs.
