Cessnock CBD to Bridges Hill Park - Shared Pathways Project

Investigation, design and construction of a shared pathway from Cessnock CBD to Bridges Hill Park as part of the NSW Government's Active Transport Program.

Millfield Skatepark

Delivered in partnership with Mindaribba Local Aboriginal Land Council, Millfield Skatepark will be the fifth in the Cessnock Local Government Area alongside skateparks in Cessnock, Kurri Kurri, Greta, and the freestyle BMX facility at Bellbird.

Branxton to Greta Shared Pathway

Construction of a 3.3km off road concrete shared pathway/cycleway between Branxton and Greta on the northern side of the New England Highway.

South Cessnock Flood Mitigation Construction

At the 20 May 2020 Ordinary Council meeting, Council adopted the South Cessnock Flood Mitigation Scheme which includes an earth bund wall, raising of Quarrybylong Street, diversion of Kearsley Creek channel; and raising of up to five properties.

George Downes Drive, Bucketty

Council has received funding from TfNSW under Safer Roads Program to complete road widening and safety improvement works of approx. 685m section of George Downes Drive, Bucketty at the intersection with Great Northern Road.

Sandy Creek Road, Quorrobolong pavement rehabilitation

Council has committed to progressively upgrade this route, which has resulted in improved road environment and has also seen increased usage.

Bridges Hill Park to Wine Country Drive shared pathway

The aim of the project is to improve pedestrian and cyclist connectivity between Bridges Hill Park in Cessnock and Wine Country Drive at Lomas Lane.

Great North Road Laguna – Heavy Load Limit

Be advised that a 25 tonne combined mass load limit will apply on Great North Road 150m north of Great Northern Road and George Downes Drive intersection.

Wollombi Road Upgrades

Cessnock City Council has commenced the design and planning stage for the upgrade of Wollombi Road to improve capacity, safety and ease traffic congestion.

Heddon Greta South Road and Drainage Improvements

The Heddon Greta South Road and Drainage Improvements project will deliver significant upgrades to road pavement and stormwater infrastructure across several key streets in the area. The aim is to improve deteriorating road conditions and manage stormwater more effectively, reducing the risk of flooding.

Cessnock Regional Skatepark

Cessnock Regional Skatepark will be the first regional level skate facility in the Cessnock LGA, providing a youth-friendly space to meet the growing needs of young people across the region.

Sawyers Gully Road, Sawyers Gully

The existing road is a two-way sealed road, generally with unformed/unsealed shoulders and earth dish drains on each side. Council proposes to widen the existing road, upgrade the road intersections at Bathurst Street, Frame Drive, Lumby Lane, Hinds Lane and Bakers Lane and improve drainage system along the road.

Cessnock Waste Management Landfill Extension

Cessnock Waste Management Centre (CWMC) includes a
waste transfer station and the landfilling of solid waste at the facility. A new landfill cell is proposed to be constructed approximately 400m northeast of the existing cell.
