Benefits

Maintenance Benefits

Installation of the new concrete bridge will reduce annual maintenance costs by 80%.

Social Benefits

The bridge now provides a better level of service and creates new opportunities for the community. Though the majority of smaller emergency vehicles (ambulances etc.) can still pass across the bridge, due to the previous load limit of 12T, larger emergency vehicles, such as fire fighting vehicles, which are currently restricted, are now able to access this bridge as an emergency route.

Economic Benefits

Westcott Street Bridge serves approximately 84 businesses comprising of Healthcare, Administrative Services, Transport and Construction. The previous 12T load limit restricted the free movement of vehicles servicing the businesses, resulting in detours which reduced transport efficiency and results. The new bridge structure provides opportunities for development and growth of existing industries, by enabling the route to be used by larger vehicles, reducing the number of journeys and thus improving efficiency.

Funding
