Background

The completed shared pathway along Nelson Street, Greta provides important safe pedestrian access and connectivity between the Greta train station and the High Street / New England Highway bus links.  The pathway is aimed to encourage and provide an active lifestyle opportunity for the community as an alternative to motor vehicle transportation. The new shared pathway completes the link with the new pedestrian pathway constructed with the Anvil Creek bridge, completed in June 2022.

The shared pathway route along Nelson Street is from Anvil Creek to High Street, as shown below.

Scope of works

The completed scope of work for the pathway comprised the following activities:

• Site clearing and grubbing

• Earthworks

• Drainage works, installation of culverts, headwalls and erosion control

• Concrete works including a pathway, kerb and gutters and survey set-out for the works

• Asphalt installation at the bridge end of the works

• Guardrail extension, handrail installation

• Signage installation

• Line marking for the pathway and road

• Site remediation
