November Compost Give-away

Council employees at a compost give-away event

Our popular FREE compost give-away is happening again on Wednesday 4 November at the Cessnock Sportsground (Badderly Park) from 2:30pm until gone. 

We'll be giving away 200 bags of premium compost made from the material collected in your green bin, completing the cycle from garden organics bin to garden bed. This quality product contains no weed seeds and is used by home gardeners and farmers to improve soil quality and retain moisture. So come and try some for yourself!

This will be a drive through event. To ensure social distancing, please stay in your vehicle and have your rates notice and/or drivers licence as proof of address ready to show staff who will load the bags straight into your vehicle.

Conditions:

  • 2 bags per household only
  • Open to Cessnock Local Government Area residents only

Tips:

  • Bring your rates notice or drivers licence for proof of residency
  • No bags will be available prior to the published start time and the event will finish when all the bags are gone
  • Dates are subject to change due to weather conditions (Check our Facebook page on the day or call Solo Resource Recovery on 4947 8511)
  • The ‘Garden Organics’ promotional bags of compost are not available for purchase
