“Stop Screaming, I’m Scared Too”: Rod Henderson Shares Powerful Memoir
Published on 19 February 2025
Kurri Kurri Library is proud to host Rod Henderson, author of the compelling memoir “Stop Screaming, I’m Scared Too” on Tuesday 25 February, from 5:30pm to 6:30pm.
Henderson will share his extraordinary experiences from 22 years of service in the Australian Army, offering a unique and enthralling perspective on life as a regular soldier.
Henderson’s service panned a busy period in the Army’s history, including deployments to East Timor, Papua New Guinea, Pakistan, and Afghanistan. From infantry paratrooper to Chinook loadmaster and Blake Hawk door gunner, he experienced firsthand the challenges and triumphs of military life. His book reveals the realities of his experience with humour, humility, self-reflection, and unflinching honesty.
Library Services Coordinator Rose-marie Walters said she was looking forward to Rod Henderson sharing his story at the upcoming author talk event.
"We are thrilled to welcome Rod to Kurri Kurri Library," said Ms Walters.
"From life-threatening situations, to the physical injuries and mental health challenges he has faced and overcome, to the healing he found at the Australian War Memorial, Rod’s story is certainly a powerful one, and we believe it will resonate deeply with our community.
"It’s important for us to provide a platform for veterans to share their experiences, and we are honoured to host this event."
