Spirit of Place: Reconciliation Week Talk with Uncle Warren Taggart

Cessnock City Council is inviting members of the community to attend a special talk with Uncle Warren Taggart at Cessnock City Library on Thursday 1 June, to coincide with Reconciliation Week.
Uncle Warren is the author of Spirit of Place: a stunning book that documents culturally significant Aboriginal sites of the Hunter Valley.
In Spirit of Place, Uncle Warren has written about his cultural journey – about conversations with his father and his rediscovery of his country through the wonderful sites that display powerful imagery for his people. Much of his knowledge has come from stories told to him by his father and while visiting sites that his ancestral family have inhabited.

Library Services Co-ordinator, Rose-marie Walters says that it is a great opportunity for locals to hear from Indigenous author Uncle Warren on a range of interesting topics.
"I encourage members of the community to come along on a journey with Uncle Warren as he shares stories about Country, the art sites and their Dreaming importance," Ms Walters said.
"Uncle Warren has a powerful story to tell and this is definitely not one to miss."
Reconciliation Week is a time for all Australians to learn about our shared histories, cultures and achievements and explore how each of us can contribute to reconciliation in Australia.to a sense of unity and belonging.
