A brand-new, state-of-the-art multi-purpose court is now open to residents at Centenary Park, Abermain.

The dynamic addition to Centenary Park features line-marking for basketball, pickleball, and handball, catering to the diverse interests of the local community.

Cessnock City Mayor Jay Suvaal said the delivery and opening of the multi-use court has positive impact for residents.

"I’m thrilled to see the new cutting-edge, multi-purpose court at Centenary Park open for use," said Clr Suvaal.

"This proactive investment in our recreational infrastructure underscores Council’s ongoing commitment to fostering healthier and happier lifestyles for our residents.

"More accessible and inclusive sporting hubs lead to better community engagement, and I encourage everyone to make use of this fantastic modern facility."

The project was delivered as part of Cessnock City Council’s Recreation Facilities Renewal Program.

The Program forms part of Cessnock City Council’s 2023-24 Operational Plan, and aims to provide renewal works to Council owned or managed recreation areas and supporting infrastructure, such as floodlighting, irrigation, and field improvements, playground and safety surfacing renewal, fencing and park furniture renewal, and shade structure installation.
