Cessnock City Council is preparing a memorial garden dedicated to honouring the victims of the Hunter Valley bus crash.

The memorial garden provides a quiet, safe space for those wanting to pay their respects and features 10 deciduous ornamental pear trees, each representing a life lost in the tragedy, along with individual memorial plaques displaying wording provided by the families.

The project team has expedited works to ensure the memorial garden is ready ahead of the 12-month anniversary next week.

Cessnock City Council can now confirm the memorial garden will open to the public from tomorrow, Saturday 8 June.

Anyone wishing to visit the memorial garden can utilise the informal, off-street parking available at the site, or find a park safely down the road toward Branxton and use the new shared pathway to access the area.

Members of the public are advised to expect additional traffic at both the crash site and the memorial garden over coming days and are asked to exercise patience.
