Cessnock City Mayor Jay Suvaal

I would like to extend a warm welcome to Chris Minns, for his appointment as the new Premier of NSW following the recent state election. I look forward to working with him and his government in the coming years to continue the growth and development of our region.

I would also like to offer my congratulations to Clayton Barr MP on his re-election as Member for Cessnock. Clayton has advocated for our community, and I look forward to  him representing us in state parliament once again. I have no doubt that he will continue to be a strong voice for our community.

I am confident that with the incoming Labor government, we can work towards great outcomes for our region. I am pleased to see Labor's commitment to providing an additional investment of $390 million over the next two years, and continuing the existing $280 million regional pothole program. This funding will be critical to repairing our regional roads, which are essential for the safety of our residents.

Additionally, I am thrilled to hear that Labor is planning works for the High School at Branxton, this is a developing area and this new facility is welcomed by the community.  As our region grows, it is crucial that we have adequate infrastructure in place to support our residents. This commitment to our education system is a step in the right direction towards achieving that goal.

I am committed to working with all levels of government and the community to ensure that Cessnock City Council remains a vibrant, prosperous and welcoming community. I look forward to continuing to work with our state representatives to ensure that our region receives the investment and support that it needs to thrive.

As we approach the Easter break, I encourage everyone to take some time to relax, reflect, and connect with loved ones. I hope this time brings you enjoyment and rest.
