Cessnock City Library is set to host an evening with local author Paula Beavan as she reveals her latest book, ‘Among the Grey Gums'.

The event will take place on Thursday 6 June, from 6pm-7pm, where the author will delve into the inspiration behind her new novel and explore the fascinating historical context that shaped it’s setting.

Paula Beavan is a historical fiction writer of rural romance and adventure novels and is an Australian Romance Readers Association Award winner for the Favourite Debut Romance Author in 2021.

Her novel ‘Among the Grey Gums’ set in the Hunter Valley in 1842, follows the journey of main character Lucy Stewart as she embarks on a quest to clear her brother-in-law’s name for murder. Together with Constable Sam Donovan, she unravels a tangled web of bushrangers, corruption and hidden truths.

Library Services Coordinator Rose-marie Walters said the event is a great opportunity to come along, meet local authors and delve into their story writing process.

"I invite the community to come along and join us for an unforgettable evening of history, storytelling, and literary connection," said Ms Walters.

"Don't miss out on the chance to meet Paula Beavan and get your very own copy of 'Among the Grey Gums' signed by the author herself."

Bookings for this event are essential and can be made from the adults’ section of the Library's 'What’s On' page or by calling Cessnock City Library on 4993 4399.
