Cessnock City Council today opened bookings for two highly popular events, as part of the 2024 Our Bushland Festival.
'Twilight Tales' and 'Spotlights and Stars' are set to take place on the Friday and Saturday evenings respectively, ahead of the festival main day on Sunday 8 September.
Council’s Economic Development and Tourism Manager Tony Chadwick said the two events have limited spaces and residents should get in quick to reserve their place.
"Spotlighting guided walks at Poppethead Park have proven to be one of the most popular attractions of Our Bushland Festival each year," said Mr Chadwick.
"This year, as part of our bigger and better festival we've more than doubled the number of spots available and added a captivating stargazing talk that promises to elevate the experience under the stars.
"We’ve also added the new ‘Twilight Tales’ free outdoor cinema night at the Hunter Valley Visitor Information Centre, which is a great opportunity for local families to curl up on their favourite picnic blanket and catch a movie under the stars.
"Following a resounding victory with more than 70 per cent of the public vote, I’m pleased to confirm that we will be screening The Lorax on the evening."
Cessnock City Libraries are also hosting a series of special bushland focussed storytime events in the week leading up to the Our Bushland Festival, including special readings of: The Forgotten Song: Saving the Regent Honey Eater, Bowerbird Blues, and The Bower Bird. Each of these events has limited spaces.
