Cessnock City Council unveils exciting heritage program for 2025

Cessnock City Council will launch its dynamic heritage program, set to kick off in March.

Talking History Events 2025 will feature a variety of exciting events including:

• New and returning guided history walks at Chinaman’s Hollow, Ellalong, Kurri Kurri, and Bridges Hill.
• Fascinating history chats at Chelmsford Hotel and Neath Hotel.
• ‘Cessnock in the Sixties’ photography exhibition.
• ‘Co-operative Stores: The Hunter’s Retail Heart’ exhibition.

All exhibitions, events, and walks will showcase the rich history and culture of Cessnock and surrounding localities, providing visitors with a greater understanding of our town's past and the people, events and unique stories that shape our region.

Library Services Coordinator, Rose-marie Walters, encourages the community to take advantage of this exciting program.

"Our Talking History Events program is designed not only to celebrate our rich heritage, but also to foster a deeper connection and understanding of our community," said Ms Walters.

"We invite everyone to join us as we uncover the stories that have shaped our lives and our town!"

"The events are open to everyone, and best of all, they’re free."
