Political donations and gifts
Political donations and gifts given to Councillors or staff must be disclosed when you:
- submit a planning or development application
- lodge a public submission regarding or supporting a planning or development application
Under the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979, it's an offence to not provide a disclosure of political donations or gifts.
Political donations or gifts do not influence the outcome of any planning or development application. The making of political donations or gifts does not provide grounds for challenging the outcome of a planning or development application.
Making or lodging a submission?
You're required to disclose information about political donations and gifts made by any person with a financial interest in the planning or development application. This includes information about:
- all reportable political donations made to any of our Councillors
- all gifts given to any of our Councillors or staff.
This information needs to cover the period commencing two years before the application is made and ending when the application is determined.

We are required to make the disclosures available to the public under Schedule 1 of the Government Information (Public Access) Regulation 2018.
